Coming to CDPL Oct 28 (1-3 pm): writing workshop

Award-winning novelist and short story writer Patricia Henley will help you discover the stories you already know. In this 2-hour workshop, we will focus on uncovering some of the big moments of your own life and learning how to use those ingredients to create fiction that is new and meaningful. As a teaching tool, she will use an example from her own short stories, "The Secret of Cartwheels." All interested adult and teen writers (over 16) are welcome to attend. Beginners encouraged! Patricia Henley's novel, Hummingbird House, was a finalist for the 1999 National Book Award and the New Yorker Fiction Prize (2000). Patricia has taught in the MFA Program at Purdue University for nineteen years. She lives in West Lafayette, Indiana, with her husband, her nephew, and two beloved cats.
