Teen and Adult Texting Competition

Eligibility: Ages 14 to 114. Contestant must have their own phone with texting capability.
Registration: Contestant must sign-up at the circulation desk or by calling 765-362-2242 ext. 109 before October 25th.
Age Groups: 14-20, 21-35, 36-114
Contestants under 16 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The Contest: This competition has two components:
1. Text entry - You will be given a printed message to type on your phone. The objective is to type this message as accurately and as quickly as possible.
2. Texting - You will be given a printed message to type on your phone. The objective is to type this message as quickly as possible in any texting style you wish so that the judges can understand your message. The judges will not have seen the message in advance. You can enter with any phone that is text-capable. The auto-correct function on your phone is allowed, but voice-dictation apps are not to be used.
Prizes: The contestants of each age group compete by process of elimination until there is one winner per age group. The winner will receive a $25 gift-card prize. The winners of each age group will then compete for the Ultimate Grand Prize: a gift basket of cell phone-related accessories.
CDPL is not liable for charges incurred to send text messages. CDPL staff members will not be allowed to handle a contestant’s cell phone.
